What is auto detailing?
It is possible that many car owners have heard of the word “detailing” but most do not know what it means and how it works. In simple terms, car detailing allows the vehicle to look as close as possible to “brand new”, and even in some cases “better than new”. However, the process of detailing is much more complicated than that and consists of many different elements.
Auto detailing is the process of improving the internal and external appearance of a vehicle. This includes cleaning as thoroughly as possible, any improvements to eliminate minor defects, such as scratches, and additional protection to maintain the visual condition of the car.
Going into more detail, detailing can be divided into three main stages:
•Cleaning
•Improving
•Protection
Cleaning
The first aspect of car detailing is the cleaning process. The main goal is to improve the condition of the internal and external surfaces, to eliminate traces of wear and tear and to improve the visual appearance. This, of course, begins with proper cleaning. The detailing cleaning process is more thorough and focuses on every smallest detail to achieve impeccable cleanliness.
Improving
Also, the detailing process also includes improvement work, which mainly concerns paintwork, but may also include other areas, such as exhaust pipes, car emblems, exterior plastic and finishing. This also includes the interior, which mainly concerns leather, plastic and fabrics. Detailing improves the appearance of the car paint so that it looks much shinier, correcting or improving the paintwork.
Protection
Perhaps the most important stage in detailing is car protection.
The car can be protected in various ways both inside and out:
• Paint can be protected using wax or a protective coating.
• Also, glass can be protected by a coating.
• Exterior trim and tyres can be clad to improve the visual appearance and protect them.
• Interior leather, plastics and fabrics can be protected to prevent the effects of UV rays, protect against spilling liquids and stains.
For many car owners, it is especially important to protect the car paint coating. Applying a protective layer of paint helps:
• Keep the car cleaner, as dirt sticks less to the surface of the car.
• Provide a water-repellent coating to reduce the risk of water spots.
• Protect the paintwork against UV rays, which over time can cause the paint to fade.
• Improve the appearance and shine of the paint.
